Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 16, 2026

This policy describes how iloveepub.com ("we", "this site") handles information. The short version: your files never leave your device, and the site itself collects almost nothing.

Your files stay on your device

Every tool on this site — compress, merge, split, and everything we build next — runs entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. When you open a file with one of our tools:

  • The file is not uploaded to any server. There is no upload step, no conversion server, and no fallback that would send your bytes anywhere.
  • The file is not stored. Processing happens in your browser's memory. When you close or refresh the tab, everything is gone.
  • The file is not copied, logged, or shared. We have no database, no file storage, and no server-side code that could receive a file even if it wanted to.

You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while using any tool, and confirm that no request carries your file. We designed the site so that this claim is not a promise — it is an architectural fact.

What this site collects

Very little:

  • No accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile.
  • No file names or contents. Not even temporarily.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies. This site does not set advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites. See "Advertising" below for our commitment about the future.

Analytics

We use a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool (Umami) to count page views and tool usage — for example, how many times the EPUB compressor was used, or how often a conversion finished or failed. This analytics setup:

  • uses no cookies and sets no cross-site identifiers;
  • does not collect your IP address in identifiable form, your file names, or any personal information;
  • records only anonymous, aggregated events (such as "compress completed").

If you prefer, a browser content blocker will prevent these requests without affecting any tool's functionality.

Live chat (Crisp)

This site embeds a chat widget from Crisp (crisp.chat) so you can contact us with questions. The widget:

  • loads a script from crisp.chat and may set its own cookie to remember your chat session;
  • only transmits information when you actively open the chat and send a message — the tools on this site never feed anything into it;
  • is a third-party service: messages you send are processed by Crisp on our behalf so we can read and answer them.

Blocking crisp.chat in your browser (via a content blocker) removes the widget completely and has no effect on any tool.

Server logs

Like virtually every website, our hosting provider records standard technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamp) in short-lived server logs for security and abuse prevention. These logs are not used to profile you, are not linked to any file you work on, and expire automatically.

Advertising

This site currently displays no advertising. If we add advertising in the future, advertising partners may use cookies subject to your consent choices, and we will update this policy — clearly and before or at the moment ads appear — to describe exactly what changes. We will not retroactively soften the guarantees on this page about your files; those are architectural and will not change.

Third-party links

This site links to third-party websites, including our sister site e-ink.me. Once you follow a link to another site, its own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party sites.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we collect no personal information at all, there is nothing to disclose, and no age gate is needed.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because this site processes your files on your own device and collects no personal data beyond anonymous aggregate counts and short-lived technical logs, there is effectively no personal data of yours in our possession to access, correct, export, or delete. If you believe otherwise and wish to exercise a right, contact us (see below) and we will respond promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and revise this page. Changes will never loosen the core guarantee described in "Your files stay on your device."
