When plain text is all you need
TXT runs everywhere: on e-readers from decades past, in text editors, terminals, word processors and scripts. Stripping an e-book down to pure text also makes it trivially searchable, indexable and quotable — no reader app between you and the words.
The output is UTF-8, so every language in the book — Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic or any other script — survives the extraction intact.
What is kept — and what is left behind
You keep every word of the book: all chapters in spine order, each under its chapter title, with paragraph breaks preserved as blank lines. Chapter headings are kept as plain-text title lines so the structure of the book stays navigable.
What you lose is presentation: fonts, colors, bold and italics, images, footnotes and layout. A TXT file describes content, not appearance — that is the point of the format.

Does TXT conversion keep formatting?
No — TXT has no formatting to keep. Bold, italics, fonts, colors and layout are dropped. What survives is the complete text: every chapter in order, with chapter titles and paragraph breaks.
What encoding is the output?
UTF-8 without BOM. It covers every language the book contains. Virtually all modern editors and readers detect it automatically; very old Windows apps may expect GBK or Latin-1 and need a conversion.
What happens to images and footnotes?
Images are skipped — a TXT file is pure text. Footnote text usually survives as part of the flow, but its popup or link behavior does not exist in plain text.
Is my book uploaded to a server?
Never. The extraction runs entirely in your browser — you can verify it yourself: open your browser's network inspector while converting and you will see zero uploads.
How large an EPUB can I convert?
Files up to 120 MB are supported. Since the whole book is processed in memory, very large books may be slow on low-RAM devices — you will see a warning above 100 MB.
